Learn the method behind the Metabolic Insights test

A foundational course on metabolic health and the Metabolic Insights method

Metabolic health is becoming a central topic in practice. Many clients present with concerns around energy, focus, and mood. Practitioners need a framework that helps them understand the biology behind these presentations and interpret metabolic patterns in a structured way.

Maven Health’s educational series, Foundations of Saliva-Based Functional Metabolic Testing, now available through Regenerus Labs, was designed to build that understanding.

Across six modules, the course explains the scientific and clinical logic behind the Metabolic Insights test. It covers mitochondrial energy production, amino acid metabolism, gut-derived fermentation products, and the key regulatory pathways included in the test.

Participants learn how these systems relate to common client presentations. For example, the course shows how tyrosine, as a precursor to dopamine, connects to mental wellbeing and cognitive function. It explains how amino acids contribute far beyond tissue building, including their role in metabolic balance and energy production. It also explores how measuring gut-derived metabolites within the body can provide insight into systemic metabolic activity and functional physiology.

The course then connects these biochemical foundations to practical use-cases. Participants learn how metabolic processes can shape fatigue, focus, and mood, and how saliva-based small-molecule metabolites can reveal patterns that help identify likely drivers of dysfunction.

A practical part of the series is dedicated to reading the Metabolic Insights report in a structured way. Through Structure Pattern Reasoning, contextual interpretation, and complete report walkthroughs, practitioners learn how to interpret results, understand priorities, and apply findings more clearly in practice.

Led by Dr. Christopher Wall, PharmD, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer of Maven Health, the course supports practitioners who want a stronger understanding of metabolism and a clearer method for using metabolic testing in functional and preventive practice.
